James Anthony began his
interest like many magicians, as a young child with a magic kit.
His desire to learn magic was as strong as his desire to learn
music. He excelled at a young at both magic and music, gaining
much acclaim for both.
James took a break from magic in 1990 to pursue a music career,
touring with a band called Division By Zero. In addition to
playing in many local and regional bands, James also did studio
session worked and sang on many local commercial jingles. James
began teaching drums in 1996. To suppliment his income, he began
work as a magical bartender, performing close-up magic from
behind the bar at Scorekeepers in Janesville. Within a month,
his shifts were so popular that the owner gave James his own
night to just walk around and perform. Within 2 months of
gaining this close up gig, James was sought out by 3 other
restaurants to perform for them as well. All of these weekly
showcases quickly earned James a strong reputation as one of the
top performers in his area, and he started to also perform
corporate stage shows. By 2000, every public performance James
had was sold out.
Since 2001, James has been developing his intuitive abilities to
break away from traditional magic and delve into a branch of
magic called mentalism. Mentalism is the art of mind reading,
telekinesis, psychic phenomena and even paranormal phenomena.
James has discovered that he has a much more natural affinity
for this type of performance art than traditional magic. The
risks involved with mentalism are greater than those of magic
because many mentalism effects rely on intuition, not gimmicks
or sleight of hand. Because of this, sometimes mentalism
demonstrations don’t always work out perfectly. But the audience
can rest assured that when it is successful, they have witnessed
much more than a magic trick! |
